Join the Spa R-evolution for a Spa-tacular 2012!

The 2011 Noosa ASpa Annual Conference was a coup in terms of defining a fresh new direction for The Australasian Spa Industry.

Kirien Withers, Spa Guru, and Managing Editor of Industry Magazine, Spa Australasia, wrote in the first issue of 2012; ‘At the recent ASpa conference, a new theme ran through the proceedings. Many of the key speakers said, either directly or by inference, that in their opinion our industry is at great risk. In my perception, the tide has turned’.

This was endorsed by Anne-Marie Cook, Spa Australasia’s Editor advocating sweeping away thoughts of a difficult year in 2011 and Kirien going on to remind us that it’s a changing landscape in people’s life, experience and times causing great uncertainty making time-out more important than ever before.

Despite the overwhelming consensus that the Industry was facing some difficulty and in need of a win both directionally and commercially, the synergy of the Speakers highlighted a glaringly huge opportunity for Spa; to embrace and own our client’s hidden agendas – or emotional wellbeing.

‘As the world’s population wakes up and realises that we really are now at the final hour where a safe and healthy lifestyle for our children and their children is being decided; we are all affected.’ Said Kirien. ‘We need to send a ripple of happiness into our sphere of influence so that our clients ‘float out in bliss’. By offering this level of care we will be truly future-proofing our careers, our businesses and the spa industry.’ ‘The quality of the time out and how nurtured and respected people feel will decide whether they come to us again and tell their friends about us’.
This view was also supported by Spafinder’s Shari Rosenberg who shared views on ‘the importance of giving back’, ‘using our power for good’ and ‘developing a culture of happiness in the workplace’

Spa R-evolution lays the solution out on a plate for every Spa Owner, Manager and Therapist to effortlessly implement the new direction in their business

How Social Media helps World Polarity

Reading the Sunday papers this morning I was interested to see a double page spread discussing Facebook Security. Where there would seem to be without a doubt reason for concern my overall thoughts are ‘how awesome’; here is a system which lays out bare the need for us all to be honest, authentic & accountable for all we do. One which promotes ‘being seen to do good’. There is no-where to hide. The unscrupulous need not apply here.

I say let it evolve, let it disclose those who are less than honest in their dealings; then we can forgive and move on to a more +ve world. Once globally humiliated it is unlikely they will repeat.

The long term benefits of Facebook and other Social Media sites to the world far outweigh the present technical glitches which can be fixed. Here is media which no government or organisation nor newspaper mogul can silence. It’s pure gold for those whose mission is Social transformation. Cudos to nikcub.appspot.com for his work on highlighting the security glitches

Epiphany! I woke up with this this morning;

www.mindyoga.com.au

Full of gratitude for Steve Jobs & what his life has meant to humanity. Knowing that he will be back to move us even further forward. Reminiscing about how far technology has come in our lifetime and those amazing people who had the insights & courage to push forward where no man had gone before in this mostly devolutionary world. Then my thoughts turned to how many times I have heard people use technological advances as comparisons to the working of the human mind and I was reminded of a thought I had long ago.

The internet is not here to advance commerce. It is not here to advocate ‘survival of the fittest’. It is here to demonstrate that as with all other elements of technology it can be likened to the workings of our human mind. As there is internet for technology, there is intellect for humanity. And we all have our personal wi-fi’s built in. ‘0’s & ‘1’s; bits & bytes, protons & neutrons; its all energy.

The message is this: As technology has developed to advance us materially; humanity can develop to advance us spiritually. We just need to embrace the spiritual technology. I am reminded of the work of the individuals who have touched my life so far & given inspiration for my own developments in this spiritual technology; Bill Harris with Holosync; Tim Ferriss with his 4hr Work Week, Christopher Howard with his amazing work in Human Potential; Bruce Lipton for his Biology of Belief; Marianne Williamson for her poignant quotes. And I am reminded once more that they and others like them are those we should be watching right now.

… hee hee, maybe I should take a break from Mind Yoga™ for a while! 8)

Blood, Sweat & Tears

Did you know that your blood type is a key determinant of your personal threshold to what you can handle coming at you from the world, how you respond to that stress & the most effective ways of countering your stresses?

Our biochemical reaction to each stress response is determined by a DNA  (our ‘inherited subconscious’) locus which also controls our Blood Type.  Research has shown that Blood Type plays a key role in the levels of stress hormones we produce while under stress, how quickly we are able to recover from our stressors and the levels of stress hormones generally in our blood after recovery.

For instance, I’m a typical O-Type.  With a high threshold for stress but a lousy ability to recover if I allow myself to go over my threshold.  Being akin to the stoneage hunter-gatherers, my body needs to work hard to burn any superflous adrenaline modern day stresses leaves zombying in my blood.  It also explains why myA-type friend back in 80′s infuriatingly got away with doing yoga & low-impact exercises to lose the same amount of weight I could almost killing myself with high impact aerobics!  A-Types typically have low stress thresholds therefore don’t generally push their adrenaline levels & need to burn it off like we O-Types do!  So energy exerted is more likely to contribute directly to fat burning.  Isn’t hindsight great?!

The Art of ‘Wunning’!

A new client shared her experience of her New Year’s Resolution with me recently.  She had contracted me to improve her Emotional Fitness and a Personal Trainer to improve her Physical Fitness.  But several weeks on and she was struggling with the intensity of the Personal Training Programme and the ‘pure aggression’ of her trainer’s methods.   In fact it had become a source of -ve emotion for her and she shared she was close to giving up.

‘Now, much like we’re able to improve our body’s performance through regular progressive excercise, it is entirely possible to change our ways of thinking with Mind Yoga, but the key is the word ‘progressive.

My advice was, treat your Physical Training much like your Emotional Training.  Make it the goal to keep your thoughts +ve during training.  For example, start with a walk.  Enjoy the journey, be observant & note everything which inspires you on the route & remind yourself of your personal affirmations regarding your health as you walk.

Then every day add in some additional effort.  Build up the strength in your muscles by walking briskly for a few hundred yards then return to a slower pace whilst observing nature and affirming your health goals.  Enjoy it.

After a few days begin to jog where you were walking briskly, always returning to a slower pace BEFORE -ve thoughts & emotions set in.  The aim is to stay +ve.  Congratulate yourself on the achievement, value yourself for where YOU are at.  Everybody is different.  Allow yourself to be your unique self, don’t compare yourself to others.  Be happy with your own special progress.  Then when you are recovered, pick up the pace and start the process again.

Once you are comfortable, progress to popping your health affirmations into your mind when you feel physically challenged and BEFORE you slow down the pace.  Keep these +ve affirmations & original pace going as long as your emotions also stay +ve then slow down the pace when you feel any distress or -ve emotion.

I call this is ‘The Art of Wunning’!  Before you know it your ‘runs’ will become longer than your ‘walks’ and without noticing you will be on a mission hitting your fitness & weight loss goals!

How do I know if something in my life is a really a cheesecake?!

Following on from my last blog… I have been asked:  how do we know when it’s time to let go of something in our lives?

These are the questions I ask myself;

Can I live in acceptance, enjoyment or enthusiasm with it?  Or do I find myself griping and worrying?

Can I attract +ve things to my life whilst experiencing it?   Or is my energy low and -ve?

Can I allow all others involved to be themselves? Or am I constantly trying to change them?

Is this picture part of the life I want to deliberately create for myself?

Do I feel abundant?  Or that is there something missing from my life?

Do I feel pure potentiality?  Or do I feel restricted in some way?

Can I remain detatched from the outcome of this situation?  Or does the outcome cause me anxiety?

Can I change the way I am looking at the situation whilst loving myself 100%?

You’ve made your bed…. do you have to lie in it?

It was the words of the inspirational Tim Ferriss which answered this question for me.  What springs to mind before breakfast today is how many people I come into contact with who stick passionately be the ‘I’ve made my bed, I’ll lie in it’ stance.  I understand this because this once was me.

No more however.  I have learned that unless you can lie in it with acceptance, enjoyment or enthusiasm (Eckhart Tolle), it is contributing to your -ve polarity.  Strengthening your negative vibration & holding you back from your true potential.

I see it most in those devoting their lives to the service of others.  Who have difficulty finding the balance of self-value in this care.  It almost always causes defensiveness when I point out that everything we do; everything – we do because we are primarily gaining something from it for ourselves.  Perhaps not consciously; it’s often our pain body/ inhibiting subconscious programming needing to be right /fed (eg. I’m not worthy of self love, I am only worthy if I am seen to do good, I need the accolade which others bestowe on me from martyrdom to boost my self-esteem etc).

I have also learned that there is a difference between ‘knowing’ in your head and ‘knowing’ in your heart that things are so.  It was Tim Ferriss’s cheesecake story which actualised this one for me.

Ask yourself… what do you have in your life which didn’t quite set right but you insist on making yourself eat as punishment?

Know that you made that particular decision with the information you had at that time.  We cannot foresee the turns things will take.  Be prepared to re-assess with the new information you have as you evolve.  Know that we create everything in our lives depending upon our energetic charging.

For me, bakc then, it was my business that was my cheesecake.  Started because I love working 1:1 with people, and growing to a place where I had to sit in an office on my own doing left brain tasks, letting others do the work I loved.  It drove my predominantly right brain crazy!

Look for the signs, listen to the messages.  Your new bed, your happy, positive path is often a slight degree of separation and is often painless to move over to.

A special thanks to my Action Business Coach in Cairns, Sam Harrop, for bringing Tim Ferriss to me!
